We are going to learn the pronunciation for the letter ‘B’ and ‘V’ in Spanish and we are going to use a little bit of IPA.
The most important thing to learn is that in Spanish, both letters are pronounced the same, with the sound B for English, although 2 slightly different sounds can be used depending on their location inside a word.
The first one is used when it is at the beginning like in: beber, ver and vino
and the second sound is used when it is in the middle, like in: oboe, uva and sabio.
These 2 sounds that are not normally distinguished are called allophones and the first sound could be used for all cases.
